D.W. Brotherton is a professional brand designer working in the destination hospitality / entertainment marketing space; currently with Disney developing omni-channel advertising assets & marketing solutions. He cut his teeth in the sports marketing industry with the NBA's Orlando Magic, and is always looking for ways to work in the sports marketing arena.
As a professional creative, D.W. Brotherton’s mission is to offer his clients strategic solutions to their design, branding, and campaign challenges. During his twenty plus years in the professional creative industry, he has cultivated a reputation as a proven leader with a strong understanding of different art mediums, B2B and B2C marketing, content creation, and design excellence. Throughout his career, he has been lucky enough to work for some of the most globally-recognized brands, including the NBA, Hard Rock Int'l and The Walt Disney Company.
He received his BA in Fine Arts from Webster University in St. Louis, MO. After beginning his career in the architectural industry, in marketing, he moved on to work with the likes of the Orlando Magic, NASCAR and Hard Rock Int'l. He was also an Adjunct Professor at Valencia College from 1998-2001, teaching Adobe Illustrator and graphic design. From 2004 to 2006, he was the Creative Director and Operations Manager of Create Magazine, a national print publication catering to the advertising and professional creative industries; where he redesigned the look of the publication, with his talented design team.
Always looking for ways to combine his love of graphic design and entrepreneurship, in 2006, he launched his boutique creative agency — B Creative. Some of B Creative’s many clients included prominent names such as Starwood Resorts, The Gerber Group, and Hard Rock Int'l. From B Creative, he went on to Aquent in 2009; one of the leading creative staffing agencies in the country. At Aquent, he began working as a contracted consultant for the Walt Disney Company Parks & Resorts, where he conceptualized & developed the 2011-2013 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival identity & advertising campaign, as well as the official event merchandise. The event’s merchandise became the best-selling festival merchandise in Epcot’s history.
From this role, he signed on to a full-time Cast Member role at the Walt Disney Company as Group Art Director–Disney’s Yellow Shoes Creative Group. Within this role, he works on a number of major projects for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, runDisney and Disney Springs—developing omni-channel marketing solutions through creative storytelling. If you see marketing / advertising for any of Disney's Parks, Resorts or Cruise Ships on TV, online or anywhere in the media, chances are it came out of Yellow Shoes.
Still finding time for freelance projects, he used his skills as a brand designer and love of soccer to develop the Orlando City Soccer Club's logo and brand identity, for their Major League Soccer launch in 2015.
His unique professional experiences have allowed him to gain a greater understanding of various office cultures, different industry workflows, B2B and B2C marketing, media content, merchandise, and branding.
